I made this cake for a wedding shower, and it was made to match the actual invitation to the event. Here is the invitation, I think I got it pretty close?
The cakes were "yellow" cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing. Both cakes were covered with blue-ish colored marshmallow fondant and decorated with a band of red fondant at the base of each cake. Blue, green, and yellow circles fondant circles were placed all over the cakes, and the numbers and clockes were hand piped with some of the remaining vanilla fondant. I finished up with a star border on the bottom cake with some red colored vanilla icing, and a blue fondant rope on the top cake.
I think this turned out pretty good, the client was very pleased with the end result. I only wished I had more experience covering cakes with fondant (I was cursing up a storm the whole time) and with square shaped cakes in general, and I wish I had a bigger cake plate on hand, this one was the same size as the bottom cake, and it seemed a little small. Ah well, next time maybe.

Looks awesome! Now I really feel like having a piece of cake.
1Wow! That is so cool.
This is probably a dumb question but....what is an around the clock shower?
I saw on the sample invite it said...your time is 600 pm
2I think that invitation is just a generic invitation, not the actual one for this party. It's not a dumb question, because I don't really know what that means either!
3Wow!!
I'd be curious to know what an around the clock shower is too
4Sounds delicious. Marshmallow fondant?
5Fondant that tastes like marshmallows. it's actually pretty close to the taste of divinity, if you've ever had that.
6It looks amazing!
7What beautiful, bold colors! Love the stacked squares -- so much more interesting than just a 2-layer round.
I've never been to an around the clock shower but it's when each guest is given a specific hour of the day (Like the sample said "Your assigned hour is 6 PM) and they give a gift appropriate for that time. For 6PM I would give a cocktail shaker & martini glasses, for example.
8Awesome! Thanks for the clarification! That actually sounds like it might be pretty fun!
9That shower sounds like a fun idea. Love your cake! It's awesome with the invite!
10oooh, love the cake. You are too talented for words.
11Aww, thanks!
12That looks so cool! I'm trying to work up the nerve to experiment with marshmallow fondant. First I have to figure out how to make it though.
13You did a great job on the cake! It looks just like the invite.I can't tell at all that your experience in fondant is limited.
14Thanks! This is the first time I have ever covered a square cake with fondant, those corners are tricky!
15I love the hippie cake!!!! :flowerpower:

18I think it looks awesome, but then again, all your cakes do!
19Wow! I am always so impressed with your work Ashley.
I was watching them make cales and use fondant on the food network recently, and I had to ask what it was. It is amazing what you can do with that stuff.
