This cake was made for a birthday party for 2 year old twin boys. The cakes were french vanilla flavored, and the filling and icing were vanilla buttercream colored turquoise and light green to match the party's theme colors. The stripes and diamonds were marshmallow fondant (YUM!), and the monkies were hand sculpted using plain Wilton fondant (not so yummy).
I think this cake turned out okay, I was pretty much pleased with the final result. I really like the way the monkeys turned out, I would have liked to have done more with them if I had had more time. It was around 90 degrees the day I delivered this cake across town from where I live, so the buttercream on the top layer started to melt a little. A good tip to avoid this is to use half butter and half vegetable shortening in your buttercream icing, but I just HATE the way it makes the icing taste, so I try to avoid it at all costs. It makes the icing more durable to heat, but tastes like poo. Another tip is to include a little bit of meringue powder, and that makes the icing "crust" more and make a harder shell, but for some reason I did not do this. Next time I will for sure though!! I hope you enjoy it!

21Shi, I have a blog, but it basically has all of the same pictures that I post on here, but I also have a business card with the blog address on it so that clients can look at what I've done.
22This is your best yet!! Hey - what would you put on a 50th Birthday cake for an awesome lady..?
23I would probably try to decorate it with a theme involving her interests, I would also probably try and steer WAY clear of the "50th birthday" aspect of it, most women don't like to draw attention to their age past a certain age. Do you know what kind of things she is inetersted in? I could try to find some ideas for you...
24Kick azzzzzzzzzzzz :8
25whoa you are good!!!!
26
That turned out amazing!
27that looks wonderful!!! how long did it take you to make the monkeys?
28It probably took me about 3 hours total for all of the monkeys.
29This cake is adorable. You did a great job on the monkeys!
